Ruble bound to gold. We are finally entering the post-post-WW2 era. Money is not infinite anymore. The dollar should soon be worth in rubles what a ruble is currently worth in dollars.

We're now at a stage where I can't figure out if most of the things we see are true or fake. This one is apparently true. I still don't believe it is. I didn't find it funny even as a joke. What is left then, nihilism? Just ignore everything under the pretext it's probably fake?

If even the lesser of the alleged crimes committed in Ukraine by the regime and its battalions are true, they would justify an external intervention. People who support unconditionally one side should maybe take the time to ponder whether their full endorsement is deserved. t.co/sQCuWhKyMW

since the account has been suspended, for my own recording, this was about people strapped to poles, with their pants down, flogged and abandoned there, to the cold and humiliation. One man with a broken nose bleeding over his shoes had peed himself out of fear.

So that illustrates one of the Occident's 3 mistakes: 1. A Manichean narrative can be construed from distorted facts and diverted media. This image, which is from the invasion, of a Russian soldier in a Ukrainian shop, doesn't convey quite the same story.

We are currently witnessing the typical thrill and mental intoxication that precedes world war. People get dizzy, excited, euphoric, passions are high, confusion maximum, a nationality becomes an army's flag, an artist becomes a propagandist, peace becomes treason or cowardice.
Fabrice Laussy
Fabrice Laussy @fplaussy · 2 Mar 2022
We see people suddenly committed to world peace, justice and love among nations demanding immediate war to enforce this. We see democracies calling for censorship, human rights enforcing hate, blind retaliation and gratuitous discriminations.
Fabrice Laussy
Fabrice Laussy @fplaussy · 2 Mar 2022
We have seen, for instance, massive censorship of press media branded as propaganda tools, wiping out entire editorial offices, we have seen already legendary artists like Netrebko banned from venues because they refuse to take a stance...
Fabrice Laussy
Fabrice Laussy @fplaussy · 2 Mar 2022
The world is angry. Everybody's patience is exhausted. Everybody has something to reproach to the other side. People not taking sides become traitors to all of them. The same old scenario, that brought misery, destruction and unhealing wounds to a humanity that never learns.
Fabrice Laussy
Fabrice Laussy @fplaussy · 2 Mar 2022
People don't want peace, they want victory. Usually at this stage, nothing can stop further escalation without passing through a painful phase of terror and destruction for everybody. The frenzy is so high, there's so much adrenaline that no fear of an obvious doom can detain us.
Fabrice Laussy
Fabrice Laussy @fplaussy · 2 Mar 2022
The only way out once this started would have been for the military operation to be fast and followed by a full withdrawal of Russian troops. And then negotiations, diplomacy and mutual appreciation of the balance of powers, with all the injustices and prerogatives this entails.
Fabrice Laussy
Fabrice Laussy @fplaussy · 2 Mar 2022
Instead, we have an extension of the crisis by supporting and maintaining resistance there, so that the military operation will lengthen in time, multiplying casualties and losses and weakening hopes of normalization, even if a precarious one. And of course risking a direct war.
Fabrice Laussy
Fabrice Laussy @fplaussy · 2 Mar 2022
And we have denial of Russia as a superpower, turning it into a pariah state instead and waging an ideological and economical war against it. So we have the two ingredients for escalation, extension in space and time of the conflict, generalization to other states: a world war.
Fabrice Laussy
Fabrice Laussy @fplaussy · 2 Mar 2022
To solve Ukraine's problem we will thus extend it to the planet as a whole. We will pay the violation of its sovereignty by sacrificing populations in Europe and Russia, possibly all of Ukraine. Then when the full world is broken, genuine aspirations for actual peace will emerge.
Fabrice Laussy
Fabrice Laussy @fplaussy · 2 Mar 2022
Then we will stop wondering whether Russians like their children too but remember that they are people just like us, and have been victims like us of the atrocities that will have been unleashed from both sides, on children, civilians, on our cities, on our civilization.
Fabrice Laussy
Fabrice Laussy @fplaussy · 2 Mar 2022
We will accept, still in blood and tears, that we are not the rightful good people and the others the evil responsible for everything, but that at the root of humanity's crimes is Cain killing his brother, not Putin invading Ukraine.
Fabrice Laussy
Fabrice Laussy @fplaussy · 2 Mar 2022
For one thing, between Cain and Putin, there is also Madeline Albright, Condoleeza Rice, Colin Pauwels, the peace Nobel prize of death, Obama. There's been, in passing, a war in Donbas since 2014, with around ten thousand casualties. We didn't care. And care even less now.
Fabrice Laussy
Fabrice Laussy @fplaussy · 2 Mar 2022
Peace will have to absolve considerably more crimes than those that have already been committed so far. Rationally, wanting peace is to recognize that there is an ongoing crisis, and that making it worse will, indeed, only achieve that.
Fabrice Laussy
Fabrice Laussy @fplaussy · 2 Mar 2022
Russia is a superpower. It is not Serbia or Lybia. Now that it chose to intervene, it will not yield by force, by direct confrontation, be it military, economic or other. It takes two to make war. Russia makes war to Ukraine but the Occident now wants its own war with Russia.
Fabrice Laussy
Fabrice Laussy @fplaussy · 2 Mar 2022
There was a time when the risk of nuclear conflicts was taken seriously. It seems that we've lost our respect for such a scenario, that we don't think it can really happen or that if it happens, we'll still be fine. All our modern fear seems to have gone into viruses.
Fabrice Laussy
Fabrice Laussy @fplaussy · 2 Mar 2022
Not wanting war is to recognize that it should stop quickly, which won't happen with more war, that will extend, delay and worsen. Putin made a mistake by attacking, but if we make a mistake greater than his in his wake, we will bear the cost and share responsibility.
