Carl Bryce Seligman (born as; on 8 January (1923)—23 September (2004)) changed his name to Bryce DeWitt, after his mother. Apparently, this so angered Felix Bloch that the latter blocked a position at Stanford 20 years after the name change!
DeWitt is famous for having revived, and expanded, Everett's many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics.[1] In particular, he introduced the terminology, if not concept, of "many-worlds" or "multiverse" (Everett was speaking of relative states instead).
