Death

Death is the last great adventure, that comes after you have experienced everything: love, life itself, science, God, friends, poetry maybe, the taste and smell of things, fear, which is the one that accompanies you till the end. For some, unfortunately, death comes before they got a chance to confront themselves to even any of these things, except fear and pain, that is for everybody. This is the case of murdered children, for instance. This is the saddest, most painful part for those who get to have a good share of their time on Earth.

The theme has been explored poignantly by Brel.

La Danse Macabre by Saint-Saëns is another interesting celebration of that which is the annihilation of everything.

I narrowly avoided death on a few occasions. Maybe I shouldn't have. I still think—I feel—that I will die young. By young I mean before fifty, which is already too old.

Je voudrais pas mourir
Sans qu'on ait inventé
Les roses éternelles
La fin de la douleur
Tous les enfants contents
Et tant de trucs encore
Tant de choses à voir
Tant de temps à attendre
A chercher dans le noir.
