σ=⟨σ⟩+ς is a simple but powerful decomposition of a quantum field σ that shows how its emission can be seen as an interference between a coherent field ⟨σ⟩ and a pure quantum field ς. This is how to understand, e.g., Heitler's resonance fluorescence: arxiv.org/abs/2005.11800.

This is a great illustration of multiphoton interferences, that is, to do at the level of Fock components of a quantum field the equivalent of Young's interferences, which is surprising to young people: wave+wave = 0 wave or 4 waves. Here, bunching+no correlation = antibunching.

In this collaboration with TUM and lots of other places, we show how our theory of admixing field works exceedingly well, preparing the ground for more exciting homodyning stuff. By taking control of the background radiation (do-able with a laser) you can greatly tune the output.

Phillips et al. arxiv.org/abs/2002.08192 also wrote a great paper earlier showing the same thing [see also https://t.co/Kagv7cAQIO] and more good things at high driving. That's a great feeling when several groups independently bring your theory to the lab.

Wow. I still wonder (cf. my March 23 tweet ) if Raoult is writing history or if he'll be disproved, mocked and exiled from science. In both cases, this will weight heavily. I need to find this Vonnegut's book again, a Man with no country. It's all in there.

From what I could read and the interviews I listened to—pro and against—my conviction is that Didier Raoult is correct. It'll be interesting to analyze how he will be proven wrong or why it took so much time to adopt his solution. And what will become of him (Nobel or banished).
