I am Fabrice Pierre Laussy (
Фабрис Пьерр Лосси,
洛熙).
I used to be French and was born from a
and a
, in the city of Blaise Pascal.
I am a theoretical physicist, working mainly on strange (and raising stars) particles known as polaritons, that are a quantum mélange of light and matter.
For fellow physicists, you could say I work at the interface between quantum optics, semiconductor physics and condensed matter.
I currently am a researcher at the ICMM in Madrid, where I am a theory node of the HEISINGBERG consortium.
Before that, I was the Chair of Light-Matter Interactions and director of studies for Physics at the University of Wolverhampton, in Wulfruna's city, United Kingdom, since January (2017) until December (2023).
Before that, I was a RyC researcher (since June 2012) in the condensed matter theory division of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid where I led the group of Quantum Polaritonics. I was the theory principal investigator for the ERC PolaFlow funded by the European Union and based in Lecce in collaboration with Daniele Sanvitto. I was the Scientist in Charge of the project SQUIRREL. I have had post-doctoral experience in UK (Sheffield and Southampton), Spain & Germany (as a Marie Curie fellow).
I am also—or was at some point—a black belt in judo, a theatre actor (playing God as a favorite role), a bad poet, a video animator, a cook, an encyclopedist (not only for the wikipedia[1]), a clown circus, an ex-convict, and, overall, a collector of collections.
If this still does not tell you enough about me, you can get a fair idea by browsing my favorites or peeking at my publications.
Or are you may be looking for one of my blogs?
You might not find what you want there but you might find what you don't want to find.
You can also find me on 𝕐 (but no longer on 𝕏, Google+ or other social media. I am the most shy of exhibitionists).
You can almost find me in real life. I don't like meeting new people but I like discussing with them. I'll never turn down a first discussion and almost never request or need a second one, so don't fear me as a bore. You can fear me as someone disagreeable, strongly opiniated, arrogant, rude and politically incorrect. So, as I said, not as a bore. Extremely rarely, however, I might want a second discussion with someone I met once. This is so extremely rare that I could even not mention it. Unfortunately for me, however, those are black swan types of events. And it's enough of one black swan...
I keep my promises. Eventually.
I blame easily. But I apologize even more easily.
I apologize for all that I did try and which was not successful, but I apologize for the failure only, not for having, or for what was tried. If it had worked—or as long as it did work—it'd have been—or was—quite unique. Still, sorry if that affected you badly one way or the other. In most cases, I fully apologize even if you were a large part of the reason for the failure. Sometimes, the failure is fully mine. Sorry.
The universe is free of me almost everywhere, almost always. So hopefully you'll find yourself at ease in it, far from my extravagances. Sorry again if measure theory played a trick on you. But this was surely meant to happen, at least in one universe.
