Visit of Lionel, Georges and Antoine (April 2012)
Fabrice's brother—Lionel—and his two children—Georges and Antoine—visited us in Germany in April (2012). These are memories from a few places we visited with them.
Lindau
We met the family in Lindau, the Island of the "Lac Constance" or, as they call it in Germany, the Bodensee. The children got infatuated with three landmarks there: the boats on the lake, the Zeppelin in the sky and the wood train sitting between the lion and the lighthouse.
-
Lindau: the famous port entrance,
-
guarded by its lightouse and the Bavarian lion.
-
Elena,
Antoine and the Mangenturm.
-
In a tribute to Lindau's Hauptbahnhof, much time was given playing to the train.
-
Cruising the Bodensee.
-
Cruising the cruiser.
-
More serious, inside.
-
Lionel and Wasserburg.
-
Back to Lindau.
-
The beautiful view from the Bodensee.
-
On the other side of the tiny port.
-
Der Bayerische Löwe from the Leuchtturm (lightouse).
-
The main Lindau attraction for our nephews.
-
Or maybe this one.
-
Inland.
Neuschwanstein
Our second visit of the Neuschwanstein castle.
-
By the Pöllatschlucht,
-
the most scenic ascension to the castle,
-
with cascades rather than tourists.
-
A stop below Marienbrucke.
-
That's the "brucke" up there, in the light.
-
Antoine's favourite locomotion.
-
View from the "brucke".
-
Below.
-
In the main square.
-
This area is usually closed to the public; this time it was open. And empty!
-
A peek in the vacuum.
-
The other side as a finish.
Wankberg
-
Avalanches on the Zugspitze.
-
On top of the Wank,
-
with a vantage view on a tempest lashing the Zugspitze.
-
Bavarian diet as the tempest passes the Wank.
-
Some time left to play.
-
Snow in April!
-
Meanwhile, admiring the Alps.
-
Snow fight casualty.
-
Time to go back down.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen
-
The Partnachklam,
-
from above.
-
Another bridge,
-
grazing one out of the many cascades we met on the way.
-
Interesting rock formation.
-
Another cascade.
-
A scary crossing.
-
Georges just making it on the other side.
