Fumitaka Yura is the first author of the first paper proposing polariton condensation.[1] Despite this pioneering idea, he appears to be little known. He has another paper on this topic,[2] also with E. Hanamura, who seems to be his mentor or supervisor at the time. From this page, it appears Yura was a student when he made the proposal and evolved as a mathematical physicist with no longer interest in polaritons.
