West Midlands
The West Midlands is a shire in England; since it does not feature this in its name (like Cheshire or Caernarfonshire) and also refers to a broad geographical area, it tends to be disregarded as a shire. It is home to the Black Country, the area where we lived (in Wolverhampton).
