Peñafiel
Peñafiel is a landmark city of Spain, in the Provincia de Valladolid, Castile-Leon.
It is named after the saying of the conde who reconquested Peñafiel (in 1013): Esta será la Peña más Fiel de Castilla (it was called Peña Falcón before that). The castle which dominates the peña is of about this time. It also has one of the most beautiful Plaza Mayor of the country, known as Plaza del Coso, which is of medieval origin and with evidence of serving as a Plaza de Torro since at least 1433. In 1927, winemakers founded the now famous Ribera Duero cooperative which led to the Protos brand, which is one of our favourite wine.
