Its defeat to the Catholic kings made Spain one of the leading powers of the time, proceeding to discover and then conquer (colonize) the new word. This city on the flanks of the Sierra Nevada is one of the points where the fate of civilisations has been decided. It retains to this day a spirit and some atmosphere of its great Moorish heritage, which shaped modern Spain and Spaniards.</span></div>

Trapped in the Province of Jaén (December 2017-January 2018)

Back from our trip to Granada and the Sierra Nevada (December 2017), we got trapped in the Provence of Jaén as our car broke down on a little road bringing us towards la Guardia de Jaén. We had planned a stay in Baños de la Encina and took refuge there. The car could not be repaired before the New Year so we went back to Madrid. When we got back to recover the car a few days later, now in 2018, it broke down again, this time in Ubeda, trapping us for a second time. In both instances, not the worst places to be trapped in.
