In the eye of others
Missed encounters can also take place not between those involved but in the eye of other people, seeing connections between them. They can also be near-miss in the sense that some of them did actually meet and interact but not precisely in the way envisioned by their matchmaker.
These includes:
- Gödel, Escher and Bach from Hofstadter's volume of the same names.
- Akhenaten, Gandhi and Einstein in Philip Glass's Opera trilogy.
