«What does X even mean???»
What's X good for, or what does it mean? That something not be given to you, in the old pun construction «X me no X» where X is both a verb and a noun, and the only thing you have to not have it: «Gift me no Gift» (Theocritus), «catch me no catch» (Fiddler), «Why me no Y» (Fabrice)...
X is also, of course, the cross, 🞨 🞩 🞪 🞫 🞬 🞭 🞮, the stop you find before the Y, the «This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt».
X can also be 𝕏.
