oh Fabrice agrees with David that egos drive the world, but Fabrice's great principles are empiricist while David's are ideological, based on a highly theoretical but overly simplified picture. While David disagrees on this, Fabrice is right.
I, Fabrice, find it strange that they did not write the paper following their own suggestions (except once, as a joke). Author contributions are for gossip and historians of science, neither for Science nor for the authors themselves.
At this stage, it's not even beginner. I think the one I screenshot makes a good problem. One could want to take the A pawn instead of the battery, but that traps the king almost as much as the black one. Then your move is the only one but how many moves before mate is unclear.
@david__co I don't understand why it doesn't select higher up the stream. This is forced mate already, but not that obvious (there is time to shield the king and provide support to the black pawns, the C pawn being the forcing material).
My PhD advisor taught me the fine art of this insightful practice 20 years ago. Not a joke: do your best. If the rest of the World doesn't entrust you with further responsibility, then the burden is on them. You did your best. Looks silly, but very wise.
