Jain

Jain (pronounced "Jane") is the rather ugly artist name for the otherwise beautiful Jeanne Louise Galice, a French musician/songwriter/singer born 7 February (1992), of half-African descent (through her mother, who is from Madagascar).

She inspires herself from the eponymous Jain philosophy which advises «Don't be sorry if you lose and don't be proud if you win.» She is a melting pot of many cultures and influences, being herself an INFJ.

I like her creativity, particularly the videos that accompany her songs which are masterpieces of symbolism and grace. I also like her songs a lot, her famous Makeba of course which is her love declaration to her Mama Africa [1] in a very beautiful, transcending universalism mixing African influences with electronic music tied by her retro, jazz-infused voice, but she also has other masterpieces (City, All my days, Hob...) or just very nice compositions (e.g., Mr Johnson, Heads Up...). A real genius.

She is the type of person who make me feel that they understood something, so I want to see them express it, convey for the rest of us what it is, that they saw.

I wanna hear your breath just next to my soul
I wanna feel oppressed without any rest
I wanna see you sing, I wanna see you fight

— Makeba.
