Provincia de Jaén

The Spanish Province of Jaén is the eastern-northernest part of Andalusia, melting Castilla la Mancha into El Andalus. Due to that once rough interface, it counts with the highest concentration of castles outside the Levant. It now holds the peace-time record of the highest worldwide producer of olive oil (producing more by itself than all of Italy)

Its capital is the eponymous Jaén. Notable places include Úbeda and Baeza. Linares used to be famous for the chess competition, but sadly, since 2010, it stopped due to the mecene (Luis Rentero) stepping out and entrusting his vision to unable successors. Jaén also has mountains (with Pico Mágina culminating at 2165m).

We once got (happily) trapped there.
