The moor is a unique landscape of great poetry, between the wide and the desolate, at the frontier of the savage and the beautiful.
It consists of low-growing vegetation (on acidic soils with heavy fog, the latter adding to the atmosphere). At some level of precision, nobody knows what is moorland and what is not.
This page is still largely in progress.
There are moors in Bavaria. Most appealing to us is Murnau's moor, that we visited it as part of our Hiking of the Bavarian Alps. See also a brochure (from [1]).
See here for a map of some moors.
