Les Maîtres du temps

Fp.laussy.jpg As a child, I once saw part of a fantastic sci-fi animated movie, in eerie sceneries. I remember very little apart from the magic it exerted on me. There were at least two stories running in parallel, one involving a journey farther and farther in some sort of deserts with landscapes. I could never later identify which movie it was. Reading an obituary of Jean Giraud (Mœbius), I learned about Les Maîtres du temps (Time Masters in English) featuring his artwork and which, maybe, is the lost encounter of my childhood.

I have since seen the movie with my nephews in Christmas 2012. They did not like it, which however says little. I am not sure one way or the other but am rather inclined to think this is not the good movie. The animation is not very good, even for the time, although the illustrations have the sort of beauty that might have attracted me by then. The story, however, did not ring a particular bell. So the mystery remains complete, and its memory even more evasive.
