Internet

A computer terminal is not some clunky old television with a typewriter in front of it. It is an interface where the mind and body can connect with the universe and move bits of it about.

Douglas Adams.

Internet is the best thing to have happened to Humanity since the conquest of fire and the invention of writing. I mean it. The invention of the press replaced other types of expression. Ceci tuera cela. And the other ways to communicate would have been better avoided altogether. Television has been quite wicked and noxious. Cinema would have been enough. The phone would have been more useful and valuable but it has been so uncomfortable and expensive as to have been little more than a convenience.

Internet, in comparison, is a real tool to empower people. It is freedom of speech, freedom of exploration. Internet is one of these decisive steps that humanity makes every thousands of years or so. The fire. The glyph. Internet.

The spider's web has a place separating the hub from the catching area which is scarce in threads and intricate spiralling, the so-called web's free zone, which is the less visible part of the structure, which however remains of interest. I use it as a synonym for the less-known, rarely visited places of the internet where one nevertheless still find some of its best content!
