Freising

Freising is the closest authentic Bavarian town to Garching and one of the oldest settlements in Bavaria. In particular, it is home to the oldest still operating brewery in the world. Its cathedral was the first brick structure to be built north of the Alps since ancient times. More recently, it is where Pope Benedict XVI was ordained a priest.
