Charles II was a Stuart king of England (and of Scotland before that) famous for his epic escape from England to France to save his head after losing the Worcester battle. Despite being one of the best known and most loved English kings, he, unfortunately, appears to have been of a a weak character. For instance, he failed to restore Catholicism in his kingdom despite dying himself in this rite which also saved him, and he also did not get to create the order of the Royal Oak to honor the famous tree that also saved his life.
