The best of British houses (the best in the world) is often their garden. The masters in the "Art of the Home" got this right that no place is complete without its extension into the tamed wilderness. Ideally, the garden comes with several sections [1], ranging from plant cultivation to the kitchen garden, passing by the patio, the terrace, the orchard, the well, the fountain, the green tunel, the woodland, the arbour [2], the bower, the parterre, the perennial border, the rock garden, the shrubbery, the fernery [3], the pond, the bridge, etc. We had no end of fun in the UK exploring magnificent gardens of sumptuous properties. We have, or want, some of these things for our own place. We also have a blog to document them.
