Telford

Telford is, before anything else, the family name of the eponymous Thomas, the great Scottish engineer, known as the Colossus of Roads.

In his honour, the fastest growing city in the UK has been named after him. The University of Wolverhampton has some dependencies there.

Wellington

Wellington used to be an independent village, named after Weola, a saxon settler, but it is now engulfed by Telford.

It sits at the foot of the Wrekin, one of the famous Shropshire hills. One can also find there Sunnycroft, a preserved poor man's villa (which we however did not visit yet).

We passed through Wellington to hike the Wrekin on 1 October (2017).
